Seeking opinions on how we handle NSFW content on here. At the moment the community guidelines state:
Keep it clean. Censor anything that is obscene or sexually explicit. This discussion forum should generally be considered SFW.
I think we can probably add a little detail and nuance here. For most public-facing categories, it should be assumed that topics are SFW. Images that are not spoilered should be SFW/sufficiently blurred. Spoilered images should be noted as NSFW.
We could relax this a little further in the Off topic
category, provided that the topic title has a [NSFW]
prefix perhaps?

I made a userscript for this (that I can’t create a topic for)
https://feederbox.cc/uscript/userscript/disco-blurimg.user.js
It hides images until hovered, and can just be added as a CSS rule. Otherwise, I think blurring/ replacing with SFW images is a reasonable comprimise

The existing guidelines are the default. It definitely needs to be updated.
I think relying on users to censor content is an unsustainable headache. I remove ~20 NSFW images per month from Discord that are posted in SFW channels. And that’s with places that are explicitly and visibly marked as NSFW. I think in a forum format it would be a lot worse.
@feederbox826 idea is not bad. It removes user error element, while not adding too much friction.
I added blur globally for the moment to see how it feels.
