Transcoded video freezes

Hey all.

Recently I started transcoding my videos, so the situation where a file used to be .avi, and became .mkv are common. Here’s the problem: prior to transcoding, a file would work normally, but after, it 1) loads for longer than usual; 2) if skip forward, the frame would freeze - after more loading, the sound would go on, and the video would stay frozen.

Same (transcoded) file played in a local videoplayer behaves absolutely normally, no freezing or anything.

I used Tdarr for transcoding. Maybe I did something wrong here? Should I rather use Stash itself for transcoding?

.mkv still needs to be transcoded in most cases. it’s not a well-supported container

You really want MP4 container for web. MKV allows any number of codec combinations which runs into the issue of web browsers not supporting all of them.

Firefox also outright doesn’t support MKV for now.

Thank you. Apparently, I would have to redo the whole thing. Oh well
