Allow users to select a “Preferred Display Name” from among the “Name” and “Alias” options.
This would not be a new “name” field; just a tickmark next to the desired Name/Alias entry. “Preferred Display Name” should be a local-only preference and would not be overwritten by the “Scrape with…” job.
Describe the benefits this would bring to existing users
Easily update/display/organize performers according to preferred display name. For example, this could be the most familiar alias (some performers have many), or a preferred language/typeface.
Because the actual entries for performer name/alias are not changed, all performer metadata can be fully re-scraped and overwritten while preserving the chosen display name.
Is there an existing way to achieve this goal?
Currently, users must manually update the “Performer Name” box, eg by swapping it with a desired Alias. However, this is tedious, and the change can be easily lost when re-scraping performer metadata.
