MKV Scene not playing as direct stream

I don’t know why but for some reason this MKV scene gives me a error

The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported

I already tried to rescan the scene and nothing seems to happen so i’m guessing there’s nothing wrong with it.
stash is running, also is the file monitor
so i’m guessing its the file itself

So i’ll post here some info about the file maybe someone can identify something wrong that could be causing this.

Are you using a Firefox browser?

No, Chromium based. I think its called Ungoogled chromium or something like that

I found the link (if you need to test something) where i get the downloads Downloads for ungoogled-chromium

i’m using Version 133.0.6943.141 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) (64-bit)

What OS are you? While Chormium based browsers generally support HEVC, there are some steps that need be taken depending on the operating system.

What do you see on HTML5 audio/video tester - File type player - MIME type tester under H.265/HEVC?

Windows 11 - Version 10.0.26100 - 24H2

From the link youve sent when i try to play the videos (both of them) on the links of H.265/HEVC they open and play but the image is frozen up, but there’s sound.

The one’s with H.264 plays just fine.

Looks like a conscious choice of ungoogled-chromium unless your distributor patched hevc in (in your case, directly from source, no)

Windows distribution seems to include proprietary_codecs=true flag, so it should be supported.

People seemed to have some success: Is HEVC supposed to be supported? · Issue #490 · ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium-windows · GitHub

What you are probably missing is the HEVC Video Extensions app from Microsoft Store.

I strangely already had this HEVC extension installed and i also regularly watch HEVC movies and never encountered any problems. Unless something under the hood of the players are happening and “converting” these HEVC videos to something else but i never noticed any problems, both in image and video quality and in performance.

ok so i found out the problem (and the solution), it was what you suspected

I did a bit of searching now knowing this info you guys gave out and ended up findind a 5yr old reddit post with a link of some chromium versions being maintained, luckly the site is still up and with various versions. Some of them are packed with codecs and you can even choose which chromium version you want.
