Minimum Requirements Cheat-Sheet (Guideline Topic)

To get this started, my biggest issue is that there is no easy to access list of what is eligible at a glance, either in a single guideline or a ‘cheat sheet’. I found that out while making this post. JAV Standards and Consistency on StashDB - StashDB / Ministry of Truth - Stash

I had to reference 4 different pages to get the information I needed.

So I will attempt to do that again, abridging all the data I can find, and I hope it gets converted to something useful, or at the very least is a good cheat sheet for reviewers as these are the most common comments I see. It should be obvious that this is only a high-level summary. Details need to be gotten from individual guidelines.

Banned Content:

If you see any underage content on StashDB, please DM the admins immediately. Please use the “Message” button at the top of the page to DM the entire admin group.

No underage performers

  • Eligibility
  • Must work with professional studios or have a verified account on at least one adult platform.
  • 18 U.S. Code § 2257 is used by most countries or the countries local equivalent is required to be considered a valid studio.

Banned Studios

  • Girls Do Porn and their spin-off Girls Do Toys.

  • Other scenes and studios that are known to violate the consent of their performers are not allowed anywhere on StashDB and will be rejected or removed. Any scenes or images that are known to include underage performers will also be rejected or removed.

Real Names

  • Legal names and birth names are not allowed anywhere on StashDB.

    • Unless used as a scene credit by a studio.
  • Other names that cannot be used as aliases unless they’ve also been used as an official adult credit:

    • Professional credits from non-adult mainstream performances
    • Professional credits or bylines as a writer or author
    • Display names or usernames from non-adult public social media accounts
    • Names used in news articles about a performer

Personal Links

  • No links to personal accounts, only professional accounts are allowed.

General:

Edit Comments

  • Say what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and what your sources are.

Language

  • English is to be used, as is, if provided by the studio. Applies to title, details and any other information.

Low Effort Submissions

  • The reasoning behind rejection is that “low effort” submissions will take the same amount of time and effort for others to fix (if not more) as it would have taken the original contributor to make a complete submission in the first place.

Bulk Edits

  • Without prior approal, the generally accepted number of edits for a single person to have in queue is less than 100 scenes.

Automated/Scripted Edits

  • Automated submissions are only allowed with permission from an admin. This requires a special BOT role in your account before edits can be flagged as automated within the edit queue.

Scene Eligibility:

Full Movie Entries

  • Full movies only allowed for JAV releases or western releases available directly from official studio websites.
  • Submissions that only have 3rd party retailers (Adult DVD Empire, Hot Movies, etc.) or databases (IAFD, Data18, etc.) as their primary sources may not be accepted.

Split Movies Guideline

  • Split scenes are expected to have a first party digital source as its primary source of info. Basically, this means a scene from Studio X should be sourced from StudioX.com. All info (release date, title, description, scene aliases, etc.) should match the first party digital release when possible. If the scene did not have a first party digital release, then it is not eligible on StasDB at this time.
    • Further software development is required to be made to support movies in StashDB.

Classic Studios

  • At this time, all professional scenes and stduios must be available digitally from an official studio website or network.

Contributing to StashDB

  • Common Mistakes: Section 3) Ineligible movie scenes.

    • All scenes must be sourced from a 1st party digital studio. That also means physical releases (VHD, DVD, BlueRay, etc.) with only 3rd party databases as a source (IAFD, Data18, TPDB, IMDB, etc.) are also not eligible.

    • In situations where a website acts as both a 1st party producer and a 3rd party retailer, only original content produced by the studio itself is eligible. For example, the only eligible scenes from Bang.com come from the sub-studios listed under “Bang! Originals”.

  • Common Mistakes: Section 4) Exceptions for amateur content.

    • All amateur scenes must use the creator as its studio, not the platform. Also, only certain amateur platforms (ManyVids, Clips4Sale, PornHub, MFC Share, etc.) are allowed. Paywalled subscription services (OnlyFans, Just for Fans, Patreon, etc.) are not allowed.
  • Common Mistakes: Section 5) Exceptions for JAV Content

    • Since JAV is almost exclusively released as full movie downloads, it has been granted and exception under our Full Movie Entries guideline.
    • We also have specific requirements on the formating of JAV Names.

Remasters, Redistributions, and Re-Releases

  • Remasters (higher quality release of an old scene by the same network/studio), redistributions (cross-network releases), and re-releases (same network releases again) are allowed when they have a unique scene entry and URL on a studio website. The preferred scene date is the release date of that particular release, not the original’s release date.
  • Amateur scenes are organized by creator not by platform and scenes are the same way.
    • All amateur scenes go under a studio of the performers same name if released by that performer.

Scene Details:

Any of these details can be superceeded by information more specific to individual studios in Ministry of Truth usually with the metadata-structure tag

Scene Title

  • Original scene titles provided by the official studio website are always the preferred scene title.
    • Some studios will not give a scene a ‘real’ title or will correct the title, usually S##:E## numbers, a few days after release if a discrepancy is noticed. These edits are generally accepted.
  • Even when the studio title has obvious grammatical or typographical errors, it should be preserved as it originally appeared. This includes misspellings, incorrect punctuation, odd capitalization, etc.
  • Exceptions may also be made for scenes from a series/movie that do not specify a scene/episode number. Typically, we add this in the format Title - Scene 1 but there is no officially required formatting for scene numbers at this time.
    • Best practice is to follow the format of other scenes inthe studio.
    • Do not alter the official studio’s formatting when they do specify a scene in their title.

Scene Dates

  • Earliest known release date, or closest approximate date.
    • StashDB will accept YYYY, YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD

Scene Performers

  • Common Mistakes: Section 6) Add or create missing performers.

    • If the performer does not exist in the database already, they will need to be created before submitting the scene. Identifying uncredited performers is not required but strongly recommended whenever possible.
  • Missing Performers

    • All performers listed in the details, title, URL, or a linked webpage are to be included when adding or editing a scene.
    • This includes male performers in straight scenes.
  • Performer Aliases

    • Should be the name officially credited to the performer at the time of release.
      • The scene alias can be entered into the field immediately to the right of the performer in the scene edit form without it being on the performer’s page.

Scene Descriptions

  • Preferred Descriptions

    • Original official descriptions provided by the official studio website are the scene description.
    • Descriptions that have been modified by the studio after its original release should not be used.
    • If the studio does not have a unique description for the scene, the details field should be left blank.
    • Descriptions provided by a source other than the official studio should also not be included.
  • Correcting Descriptions

    • Errors are to be preserved as they originally appeared. This includes misspellings, incorrect punctuation, odd capitalization, etc.
    • Exceptions are made for obvious technical errors introduced by a bad scrape or website update. This includes encoding errors on special characters, obvious glitches with whitespace, visible HTML tags instead of line breaks, etc.

Scene Tags

  • Tags are preferred, but not required for submitting scenes.

Studios

  • All studios should have a valid link to the studio. Either active or through another service like the internet archive.

Amateur Studios

  • Content is only allowed from a few platforms (ManyVids, Clips4Sale, PornHub, MFC Share, etc.).

  • Paywalled subscription services like OnlyFans, Just for Fans, and Patreon are not allowed at this time.

  • Each creator should be their own studio on StashDB. For example, “Jane Doe” or “Example Productions” would be appropriate names for a studio. This studio will hold scenes produced by the creator across multiple platforms and each scene may contain links to the same video from multiple distributors.

    • The studio name typically matches the performers name.
  • Do not add scenes with the platform as the studio, for example “PornHub” or “ManyVids” without a creator sub-studio.

PornHub

  • Scenes from PornHub must be original content uploaded by verified creators. Scenes uploaded by a third party are not allowed.
  • Trailers and abridged scenes from major studios are not allowed.
  • Fan-created content like compilations or PMVs are not allowed.

Animated Studios

  • Animated scenes are only allowed from what can be considered professional studios and not independent content creators. No online marketplace content or Patreon like services.

Studio Logos

  • Not required, but a permanent logo should be used over seasonal logos.

Performers:

Performer Eligibility

  • To verify eligibility performers require at least 1 link to a studio or platform that can validate 18 U.S. Code § 2257 or equivelent. Either;
    • A professional studio that is not banned on StashDB
    • A verified profile from an adult platform. This includes Pornhub, ManyVids, and OnlyFans.

Performer Name

  • General guideline for selecting a name, the currently preferred name by the performer, the most frequently used alias, most famous/popular alias, most commonly used name on other databases like IAFD.

  • Suspicious Names

    • Names must have been used as an official adult credit somewhere to be eligible as a primary name or alias on StashDB.
  • Diacritics in Names

    • Diacritics are allowed in the primary name but the name without diacritics must be included as an alias.
    • A name without diacritical marks may still be preferrable as the primary if it’s by far the most commonly used spelling for that performer.
  • Performer Name Disambiguation

    • Performers with a single word as their primary name require disambiguation.

JAV Names

  • Western order with simplified Latin characters as default primary name, all other spellings as aliases.

Performer Gender

Performer Images

  • Not every performer will have a clean portrait or full body image, if possible, some defining feature should be used such as a tattoo or other distinct marking.

  • Image Selection

    • A range of images over the performers career should be selected, but not to excess, there is no official limit on what an excessive number of images is.
  • Animated Performer Images

    • Not Allowed
  • Hardcore Images

    • Not allowed and should be removed if found.
  • Multiple Performer Images

    • Should be cropped to a single performer, or removed if better image found.
  • Placeholder Images

    • Not allowed and should be removed if found.

That is my list, if I missed one that is commonly used let me know.
