Metadata Access

Metadata is acquired from:

  • JLMF’s Tour section
  • the video filename, or the trailer page’s URL

:warning: Avoid ThePornDB.net :warning:
TPDB.net’s titles and release dates for JLMF are often inaccurate.

The Tour section is found at https://jesseloadsmonsterfacials.com/visitors/tour_01.html.

Trailer pages are found in the tour section by clicking on the Download Sample graphic for the relevant scene. Older scenes do not have trailer pages.

Scene Categories & Filenames

JLMF publishes four types of scenes across three different areas of their members’ site. Care must be taken to differentiate the types of scenes. The scene types are:

  • Normal scenes
  • Behind the Scenes (BTS) videos of Normal scenes
  • Bonus scenes
  • Bonus BTS videos (i.e., BTS videos of Bonus scenes)

:warning: NOTE:
Confusingly, all BTS scenes are downloaded from the members’ site’s “Bonus” section and Bonus videos are downloaded from the “Friends” section of the members’ site.

Determining Scene Type

Correct differentiation can only be guaranteed via the scene’s filename or via the trailer’s URL. Sometimes the scene’s title card will specify “Bonus” or “Behind the Scenes”. BTS scenes should be discernible by their content.

:warning: NOTE:
Bonus scenes usually do not feature a facial.

Scene Type By Filename

# Scene Type File Name
1 Normal kimmygranger2_hd.mp4
2 Normal BTS kimmygranger2_bts_hd.mp4
3 Bonus bonusscene_kimmygranger2_hd.mp4
4 Bonus BTS bonusscene_kimmygranger2_bts_hd.mp4

Decoding Tips:

  • If filename includes _bts, it’s BTS.
  • If filename starts with bonusscene_, it’s a Bonus scene.
  • If it has both: it’s a Bonus BTS.

:warning: NOTE:
Just because a normal scene may share the same scene number with a bonus scene does not mean they have anything to do with each other.

Metadata Conventions

Scene Release Number

Via Filename

The original downloads contain the scene release number in the filename. If no number is present in the filename, the scene release number is “1”, but may be omitted.

Via Website

Using JLMF’s tour section, find the relevant scene. Open one of the scene’s images in a new tab, and the release number will be a roman numeral directly after the performer name.

Example:

The roman numeral of ii is 2, which is the scene release number.

Title

Use the format:

{Performer(s)} [Bonus Scene] [#] [BTS]

  • Omit parts that don’t apply.

Studio URL

The preferred URL is the trailer page. If no trailer page is available, the members’ download page, or the Wayback Machine snapshot should be used.

Cover Image

Preferred cover images are, in this order:

  1. Video thumbnail on members’ download page
  2. Gallery thumbnail on members’ download page
  3. Portrait image on tour page

Acquiring Video Covers

To obtain:

  1. Open the video in a new browser tab (right-click on video and select open in new tab)
  2. Replace .mp4 with .jpg in the URL

Example:

Type URL
Video https://jesseloadsmonsterfacials.com/members/main/kimmygranger2/kimmygranger2_hd.mp4
Cover https://jesseloadsmonsterfacials.com/members/main/kimmygranger2/kimmygranger2_hd.jpg

Date

Scene dates are listed in mm/dd/yyyy format just above the corresponding scene in the tour pages.

If no date is shown:

Format estimated dates as YYYY-MM and tag the scene with Missing Date.

:warning: Always explain how the date was chosen in the edit comment.

Details

Scene details can also be found in the tour pages.

Male Performers

JLMF does not name male performers explicitly. Occasionally a first name is given in the Scene Details.

You may compare these against StashDB’s JLMF male performer list.

If the male performer cannot be accurately determined, tag the scene as:
Missing Performer (Male)

Edit Comments

One comment I have on the proposed schema here is about the studio links. The WM archived tour pages are incredibly useful for finding/verifying info without a membership, but I don’t think they add much when attached to the scene as a studio link.

For me, dropping the right snapshot of the tour page in the comments gives you everything you need from it. The link is saved in the edit history for anyone looking for it later, but the typical user who doesn’t know or care about it as a primary source doesn’t need to scrape it into their local Stash.

The public trailer link (archived if necessary) is my own default for JLMF. The URL’s title slug provides most of the information at a glance: performer, scene alias, appearance number, all of which add up to a complete scene title. The embedded trailer can also provide more if you’re looking to dig a little deeper. Also if you have (or guess) the right trailer URL and need to backtrack to find everything else, the WM’s oldest snapshot of the trailer can give you a ballpark date to look for the right snapshot of the tour page.

Since some data is paywalled, I’m sure the membership link is also useful for those that have a membership. I’m fine with saving those alongside the trailer link when we have one.

The only other addition here I think would be helpful is if you could add some screenshots of the members area to illustrate some of these points. For example, what does a scene page (with embedded cover image) look like? What do the bonus scenes look like? What do the BTS scenes look like? That sort of thing.

Discourse will automatically blur all images until you turn on the toggle, so I would just type out an “NSFW” warning somewhere. I think that would be fine, but @DogmaDragon can chime in if there’s issue with that.

These are easy enough changes

Philosophically, are we OK with using associated files’ timestamps on Wayback Machine?

For example, the first entry (Alexis Grace) on this NSFW tour page, dated 2016-11-17 by WM (which is the oldest page of tour entries) has no date on the tour entry nor a link to a trailer page. But if you open the NSFW portrait image in WM, it has a scraped date of 2011-11-27. Is that 2011 date OK?

Of the very earliest scenes, about 20-30 have no date but could be resolved by the above method. Many, or most, of these I expect to be dated 2011-11-27.

I’ll modify the extant section regarding Studio URLs to show it’s in progress, and then get the rest of these changes and the screenshots up in the next few days.

That’s right, I forgot the release dates disappear if you go far enough back. At some point I figured out the tour page’s URL changed in 2016. Before that, they still list release dates for another 2 years or so. You can go back as far as Sep. 2013 with the other URL, but there won’t be any listed release dates on those scenes (like Alexis Grace).

I didn’t have it bookmarked already, but I found a third URL that takes you all the back to the website’s launch. Still no release dates, but it can get you a closer estimate based on the snapshot dates.

I would add these links to your big rundown somewhere, because I’ve found them to be very useful in the past. You can go into the pagination to find older stuff too (like Alexis Grace), but it’s always easier to go straight to the homepage whenever possible.

Oct. 2010 and later, no release dates
Sep. 2013 and later, release dates start from April 3 2014
July 2016 and later, with release dates

There’s some crossover at the end of each release window, which is why I have them defined as the earliest scenes they’re useful for.

And about those pre-2014 scenes, yes I would estimate the release date using the oldest related snapshot I could find. Just make sure to use an approx. date (YYYY-MM instead of YYYY-MM-DD) and add the Missing Date tag. So using the snapshots you found for Alexis Grace, our best estimate would be 2011-11 based on the images’ archival date. But, I was able to use my oldest tour URL to find an even earlier date. This is the oldest frontpage where her scene appears, dating the scene as a year earlier at 2010-11. Still no trailer page though, the oldest scenes linked directly to the trailer’s video file instead.

Since I don’t have access, that brings up another question I’ve had. Those scenes from before April 2014. I assume they don’t have release dates listed in the members area either? And if you downloaded an older video directly from JLMF, does the file’s metadata suggest a release window at all?

Here’s a screenshot of the members page for Alexis Grace

As for metadata, I checked Alexis Grace’s downloads with MediaInfo, and there’s no date at all. I did find an October 2016 date on a random spot check, so at some point they started including dates in the metadata.

I wanted to throw a couple things out into the discussion both for clarification and for reference

This is the Bonus Scene page that contains all the BTS content, without separate scene pages. It functions like the tour page, with 28 pages of content. Since they don’t have individual dates, I have been using the publish date of the related main scene, but if they should be changed to just Year-Month since the date isn’t certain, I understand.

Images are all NSFW-ish

This is the Bonus Scenes page, which has content from a multitude of sites, not all of which are clear. Some scenes appear to just be JLMF scenes that were never on the main page, and some have watermarks to other studios. The scene pages themselves are also not uniform - some link directly to the video, some pages appear to be old versions of the site, others are simplified versions of the current main scene pages. It’s really a mess, especially considering some videos are flash links that are broken.

Dating Scenes

Something I’ve found is that for most scenes, is if you go into the image gallery under each picture will be the upload date of the image. These usually match up very closely to the publish date on the site.

For example, you can see the image upload date of 8/23/16 is only a day off from what is listed on stash. StashDB link to same scene

Obviously for non-members, or for newer scenes that have a publish date on the tour page, this isn’t necessary/helpful, but for those scenes pre-2016 I think it should be a potential option, especially for the pre-April 2014 content that has no dates anywhere else as far as we can tell.

For example, the Alexis Grace gallery dates a full year earlier than the scraped date from WM. This seems to me like the best way to find accurate scene dates for those old scenes.

When looking at cover images, I personally don’t love the look of using the embedded thumbnails, especially if we are assuming the editor has member access. I would recommend we use the cover image of the hardcore photo gallery, which by and large gives a cleaner “thumbnail” look.

For example above, the embedded thumbnail is a relatively low quality picture, missing one of the performers entirely, while the hardcore gallery thumbnail in the top right is a much better representation and presentation of the scene.

I do understand that it will have a lower resolution, but neither will be close to high quality. Also, this is a personal preference of mine, I’d be happy to hear a rebuttal.

Cheers!

I’ve rewritten the OP…
