How to find a single-word performer with disambiguation?

There is this performer in stashdb: StashDB

But, how am I supposed to find it? If I type “naomi into the attic” into the search box on the top right on the stashdb homepage, it does not find this performer, I think it takes the query as an “or” and shows the top X performers.

If I do the same query on the performer page, I get 1,428 results that I would have to page through.

Any better way…?

Feels like the search on StashDB is really starting to struggle under the load of data at this point

But there are some tricks that can be used: I usually prefer the “omnisearch” (the search bar on the top right) but that’s limited to 10 results each of performers and scenes, and the Naomi in your example doesn’t have any scenes so she’s not really findable here

The performer page filtering is also hard to use, since as you mention it’s very inclusive! The trick that helps here is to suffix the name with a " to force an exact match (AFAIK all searches on StashDB work like this, very helpful for tags/studios) which makes your Naomi show up at the end of the second row

Oh thanks! The " trick really helps.

Would it be possible to add a “disambiguation” filter on the performer search page?

Alternatively, is there a way to use the " thing in such a way that I can search both name and disambiguation?

Not at the moment. Development > Features make feature request.

Made a feature request for the former because I think that’s a better solution. Thanks!

I struggle with this a lot too. Another trick to add to what’s already been suggested is to add a dummy alias that’s 100% unique to that performer, then search for that. I usually just spam a single letter multiple times and then search for “aaaaaaaa”. Once you’re done, remove the alias.

I have a few ideas for improvements to the input dropdown, the one I think about most often is to have the result list weighted by recently created/updated performers. Normally I create a new performer with the purpose of then adding it to a scene or gallery, except it’s too far down the list so it never shows up (that’s when the trick above comes in handy).

Edit: Opps, totally missed this is about StashDB.

If the performer was in a multi-performer scene, I’ll look for that scene and follow the links. Obviously that’s not a cure-all solution.
