How to delete info added by auto tag

TLDR at end.

Hello, i recently started using stash and after scanning all my folders i saw that there was a auto tag function and went ahead to try that with the scrappers.

I took a long time, probably 10h+. So it was something i left doing instead of checking what was happening. Then when i came back it was finished but i regretted fully when i realised it not only tagged with a lot of tags i really dont care about and also added a lot of info i dont care about.

To make matters worse a lot of amateur vids a have have been tagged, and “filled” with wrong information, probably cause of face recoginition. So i got a lot of amateur or niche performers tagged as pornstars or their scenes tagged as big studies scenes. Its a hot mess.
The problem is i cant seem to delete this info without removing the file from the stash’s library. I managed to try this on a few and managed to manually delete almost all info but cant seem to be able to delete the cover image, but still, cant be possibly doing this for each file. It would take me years.

I really dont want to delete it all and then re-scan my folders. I have too much stuff, this took maybe 30h+ to finish just the file scans, if i add all the time up that it takes it probably was 3-4 full days running.

This is my main PC and my files are on a external HDD which i only plugin when im using it, its fully encrypted so i dont use my “main” things when im in “porn mode”. I keep things separate i dont want to make the mistake of using some software weeks from now and some unwanted thing being shown or identified. You can never be too cautious with these things when you dont leave alone or happens to need to share the PC or quickly show someone something.

So the problem is i rarely access the HDD for longs periods of time. So its been about two days i dont use my PC because it was running these tasks which took SOOOO long to finish. And i really dont want to do it again.

To be clear my use case for stash is basically to tag videos with specific tags i want to find. I dont want neatly organized Porn Gallery.
The reason i used tagger was basically to identify performers and add tags, which i would later delete any that i didnt care about and only keep the few ones i cared about.

TLDR: I want to fully clear all the info (tags, description, cover images, performer names) added by auto tags without deleting my scanned files from the library.

The easiest way is to remove the file from the library, but if only tags are your issue, then deleting the tag that has been assigned will also remove it from the scenes.

Removing the scenes is not a viable option since i dont want the scenes gone, just the info added to them. If i did that i would need to re-scan my entire HD. Theres probably 4TB+ of files to be scanned. Thats something i really dont want to do.

What i want is keep the files in the library (no re-scan) and just wipe out the data and info on the “Details” section.

That link you sent me gave me a bit of guidance and i found a export metadata section, which i think i could wipe out what i dont want and them import the “clean” version back.

What does the “ignore auto tag” option means?

Does it mean if i do a Task for auto tag, it will ignore tagging scenes with that tag?
What im thinking is, if theres anyway to make so that when i use the auto tag function it only add tags i didnt “blacklist”.

Yep exactly, that tag won’t be considered for auto-tagging

can the tags be deleted or do they need to exist in the library to be ignored?

if they need to exist can i hide them somehow from showing up in menus? dont want them “taking space” when searching

They need to exist in the library to be ignored, the closest thing to “hiding” a tag is probably Tag-filter

or merge them all into a garbage tag that you ignore

that trick to merge them all under a “garbage” tag helps a lot in removing those undesirable tags all at once from all scenes theyre in

but so far i still dont know how i can hide them from dropdown menus and such, searches
