Trailers and abridged scenes from major studios are not allowed.
There are certainly entries in StashDB that have mixed hashes from free versions of a scene and paywalled full scenes. Are hashes of abridged scenes to be deleted?
What alternative database may information about abridged “free” versions go into? I would like to add this information to the Guidelines page linked above.
Not everyone has access to full scenes. I’d even say more people have no access than the other way around.
Is it worth the effort to create a new type of scene that has a “abridged” tag and links back to the original?
IIRC there is no database for abridged or trailer scenes.

maybe if and when split-scene movies land, then we can link partial scenes back to “full” scenes

Scenes could receive a “full_scene_id” data column that accepts a StashDB scene ID. That way scenes could link back and forth. Abridged versions are accounted for and do not mix with full versions.
This might introduce confusion as these full scenes and abridged versions often share similar names etc., but on the other hand the confusion is already there today as seen in the hashes of short versions that link to the full scene.
Maybe an obvious visual label in the DB for abridged versions would help.
Happy if that discussion makes it into your core team. Would be glad to find a place to put info about free scenes.
That guideline seems to refer to creating a separate scene entry in StashDB for a trailer or abridged scene, and furthermore is specific to the context of Pornhub. I don’t think it is meant to prohibit adding fingerprints to an existing scene for a trailer or abridged version of that scene. I don’t see why doing so should be a problem, and as OP says there are a lot of hashes like this on StashDB already.
The main issue I see is that if you match abridged or trailer versions of a scene to the full scene those shorter versions may be missing content as it relates to the scene tags which would be applied to to those versions when scraping.
Actually, I’ve encountered a few studios that offer abridged versions for download - Naughty America being a major one. So certainly not just an exception for PHub
