Describe the feature you’d like

Similar to performers and studios, the ability to favorite scenes, images, or galleries. I guess it could also be extended to groups and markers as well but I’m thinking more about the first three.

Describe the benefits this would bring to existing users

Easy access to items that are frequently consumed.

Is there an existing way to achieve this goal?

Create a favorite tag and assign that that the item in question then create a saved filter for the tag. The potential downside is if the item gets re-scraped then the tag may be lost or overwritten.

Doesn’t rating already serve this role? It’s a more flexible favoriting system that’s just as easy to use, just as fast (via keyboard shortcuts), and also filterable.

Yes, to an extent ratings can fill the same role. However, just because I have a scene highly rated doesn’t necessarily mean I watch it often which favorites can help with. We have both ratings and favorites for studios and performers.
