FastTag — Scene Manager & Quick Tagger for Stash

FastTag provides a lightning-fast tagging workflow directly from scene cards in your Stash library view. Assign tags, performers, studios, and galleries rapidly without ever opening full edit pages or losing your place in your collection.

:sparkles: Key Features

  • :high_voltage: Smart Auto-Save Workflow: Quick-action suggestions, recent pills (1–9), studio chips, and search-and-select immediately auto-save to the scene. Lower table browsing lets you check multiple items without premature auto-saving.

  • Quickly edit a tag or performer by clicking the tag or performer button at the bottom of the card. No right click needed.

Edit Everything coming soon this will be a new right click option.
Sequential mode included to you can zip though your files folders.

I am creating these in dark mode there is an option for light mode and auto but at the moment this plugin is probably run best in DM.

In Edit Everything the search box will search tags performers and studios as the same time.

Give me your feedback. I cant think if there is anything else to add to be honest. you can now do everything form one plugin.

Thank Boss. I think there is something wrong with your updater? It seem that it not possible to update.

The version obvious detect the changes, but updating option does not work. We must uninstall and re-install.

Look like it will work if you manually select it and click update. But it interesting, only your plugins is not dated.

As for the bug of v3. Still getting this error; could it be because I install from Stash instead of manually downloading your Github files? Missing some Tabular dependencies maybe

hi @sashi

Thanks for the report! I’ve just released v3.3.1 to resolve both issues:

  • Plugin Updater & Dates: Added the release timestamp to index.yml so Stash’s updater properly recognizes update dates and auto-detects updates.

  • Tabulator Load Error: Switched to a multi-CDN fallback (jsDelivr ➔ cdnjs ➔ unpkg) with auto-retry, preventing browser adblockers or network restrictions from blocking the data tables.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: How to Update to v3.3.1:

  1. In Stash, go to Settings ➔ Plugins ➔ Installed Plugins.

  2. Tick the checkbox [x] next to FastTag and click the blue Update button at the top.

  3. Click Reload Plugins (top right).

  4. Do a hard refresh in your browser:

    • Windows / Linux: Ctrl + F5

    • Mac: Cmd + Shift + R

:hammer_and_wrench: Clean Reinstall (If the update doesn’t trigger):

  1. In Installed Plugins, click Uninstall on FastTag, then click Reload Plugins.

  2. In Available Plugins ➔ Add Source, ensure the source URL is:

    text

    https://kmarsh2311.github.io/my-stash-plugins/index.yml

  3. Locate FastTag (3.3.1) and click Install.

  4. Click Reload Plugins and hard refresh your browser (Ctrl + F5 / Cmd + Shift + R).

:light_bulb: How to Trigger the Editor:

  • Right-Click: Right-click on the bottom bar / info row of a scene card (below the video) to open the full context menu (including ⚡ Edit Everything and Edit Scene).

  • 1-Click Badge Shortcut: A regular left-click directly on the Tag (🏷️) or Performer (👤) icons in that bottom bar will open that specific editor directly.

If you still run into any errors, please let me know your OS, browser, and any console logs (F12 ➔ Console), and I’ll be happy to help!

My next project is going to fork the Kodi plugin here

I am going to try an make this much more usable for viewing your playlists scenes etc in Kodi.

Thank bro. Look good stuff!

Brief test seem to work.

Feature request; ability to hide certain column like “ID”; I don’t think I will ever use “ID” column, not unless I got super memory.

This is cool, how does it do suggestion? Can it do suggestion for other like Performer & Tag?

I have many autogallery (no Title yet), maybe either fall back to the Folder name/scene name generated by Stash? Or a 3rd column?

Is this intentional? Edit Scene will open a new tab;

Hi @sashi

Glad to hear it’s working well for you! Here are the answers and updates regarding your feedback:

“This is cool, how does it do suggestion? Can it do suggestion for other like Performer & Tag?”

FastTag actually already supports smart suggestions for Performers, Tags, and Studios! It scans the scene’s filename, folder path, and title against your Stash library. Whenever a performer or tag name is detected in the file path, the 💡 SUGGESTED: box will automatically appear above that search box too.

“Is this intentional? Edit Scene will open a new tab”

Yes, that is intentional. There are times when you need to fall back to the built-in Stash editor for advanced fields. Clicking this opens the scene in a new tab and navigates directly to the edit page so you don’t lose your place in your scene list.

“Feature request; ability to hide certain column like ‘ID’”

I’ve added a new Settings screen (right-click any scene ➔ :gear: FastTag Settings…). From there, you can toggle the ID column ON/OFF.

  • When turned OFF, the Name/Title column expands to fill the full width of the popup.

  • You can still search by numeric ID in the search box even with the column hidden!

  • I also added theme controls and a toggle for smart suggestions in that same settings menu.

“I have many autogallery (no Title yet), maybe either fall back to the Folder name…”

I have updated the gallery logic so galleries with empty/null titles will now automatically fall back to their Folder Name (or zip file name) instead of showing a blank row. If neither exists, it will display Gallery #ID.

(I don’t personally use galleries much in my own workflow, so please let me know if this update works well with your auto-galleries!)

Thanks for your feedback and I have pushed this to GitHub so you can upgrade to version 3.4.0

## :rocket: FastTag v3.5.0 Update — Smart Auto-Save, Creation Modals & UI Polish

* **:artist_palette: Dynamic Pulsing Save Button**: The button stays dimmed when everything is saved, and lights up **Emerald Green** with a gentle breathing pulse when changes are pending.

* **:shield: Creation Confirmation Modals**: Creating a new Tag or Performer from *any* view now opens a review popup to check spelling or aliases before creating.

* **:gear: FastTag Settings Modal**: Right-click ➔ `⚙️ FastTag Settings` to toggle the numeric ID column, enable/disable suggestions, and pick your UI theme.

Update check and install seem to be working now!

Look great so far… I think I will run out of complaints for a while.

Glad its working @sashi going to push a small update that shows the scene cover if no video preview has been generated so it falls back to the static image.
Was thinking of adding a switch so instead of it showing just the 10 second preview you can have it play the entire video.
At the moment you can already scrub the preview if you move your mouse over it and press shift then use the scroll wheel. Not sure if people would prefer to have the option of seeing the full video which might make tagging easier.

Perhaps I should also add a switch to turn previews off as well.

FastTag v3.6.0 is here! We’ve introduced two major playback and workflow upgrades to make scene tagging even smoother. You can now pop out the video player into a separate floating window by clicking the new ⤢ (Popout) button. The floating video window can be freely moved and resized anywhere on your screen, while FastTag’s main window collapses the video slot into a slim 1-click dockable bar—giving you maximum vertical height for browsing your Tag and Performer tables. When working in Sequential Mode, the floating window seamlessly preserves your preferred custom size and screen position across every scene you review, updating playback in-place with zero window flickering or lag.

Additionally, you can now toggle from looping preview clips to the full scene video stream by clicking the 🎬 Full Video pill. This unlocks interactive, velocity-based mouse wheel scrubbing, allowing you to glide through entire scenes at lightning speed or hold Shift to freeze playback and step frame-by-frame for pinpoint accuracy. Custom scrub speeds can also be personalized in real-time under ⚙️ FastTag Settings!

Hovering mouse over performer will now show a popup image of performer and you can click on it to go to their performer page.

Thinking of anding a scrape button so you can scrape directly in FastTag with StashDB and FansDB. Waiting for entry approval for FanDB so I can fully test that. This would populate performers tags etc.

Wow bro went crazy code mode.

Anyway bug:

Use the Pill to expand it;

Now use the Pill button again to collapse it become a super small section;

Can we get setting to disable “new tab” on click? It seem that I’m frequently opening a new tab by pressing on the preview;

Hi @sashi I can to add a setting to turn this off but most settings are set and forget, so when you actually want to open the page you no longer can. Having said that now that you can play the full video the need to actually open the scene page is diminished. Perhaps another option would be to have another pill to open the scene page or another button on the edit part of the popup (console)? It would be super simple to add a setting though to turn this off. This might be the best option as it risks becoming cluttered adding more pills?

What are your thoughts?

Also that mouse instruction popup letting people know they can scrub with the mouse wheel will only ever popup 5 times and then retire.
Also going to make it so when you use edit everything you can start typing right away to search without needing to press /
Also going to make sure the video in EE always pops out on the left side of the console for some reason my brain prefers the video on that side. Though people can drag it where they need to.

I think the GUI is really good at the moment. Nothing I can complaint about.

As for the “scroll popup” that was really a neat addition, when I read the Update Logs, I thought, “nah no one is going to remember this ‘Shift’ stuff, etc…

I can only suggest to make some sort of reminder mode that perhaps pop up once in a while so people know about the feature. The next issue would be “well they are expert and don’t need reminder”, I guess a “Pro” mode can be implement so it stop doing that… but this may need ‘bloat code’.

I only briefly test as currently I’m not in a tagging or editing mood so don’t know how good or bad is the current workflow.

I will stop it off opening the scene page in a new tab when the video is popped out but clicking the video when it is still embedded in the console will still open it in a new tab. This means you will be able to click/drag/resize the pooped out video window with no fear it will open a new tab. This is the best of both worlds as am reluctant to add more pills/buttons or settings to the console with the upcoming implementation of scraping external databases for the scene you are editing likely to add more.

Being mindful on the UI now is paramount as I don’t want this to become too cultured. I never envisaged this to be a do everything app but this is what it is slowly turning into, at this rate the only thing you wont be able to do on it is your tax returns lol.

FastTag settings works for me but clicking on anything else from the context menu has no effect. I can’t seem to pinpoint what is causing the issue. It is not my theme. Are there any known plugin conflicts or prerequisite plugins required?

Was reading on Dicord, one feature I would like to request is “Edit Group”, adding group to a scene now is quite a hassle. Anyway to add that?

Nice, just discover a new feature

Was this intentional? Clicking (Left Mouse click) on the Performer open a popup
