I have some films, rather than physically splitting the file into multiple parts, is there a way to create virtual scenes so I can just jump to a particular scene in the film?
Not at the moment, but it’s on the roadmap.
What would be the advantage to this over generating markers?
Unless I’m misunderstanding how markers work, markers are linked to tags so I’d need to create tags for each scene in the film. Not impossible to do just not what tags were intended for.
I’m also looking for some way to optimize this. I have a lot of compilation/omnibus files which can be up to 10 hours long, with 10 minute scenes and dozens of different performers. As I understand, markers are best used for tagging specific acts or moments within a single scene, so if I use markers to point to performers or codes within an omnibus file, things get messy. And quite hard to search. As it is now, a single marker in a file like that shows up as containing all 8 performers, despite being centered on just 1 of them.
I could of course re-encode the specific scenes to custom individual clips and delete the original file, but this would take ages, and break any scraping or metadata.
The other option is to create very verbose and specific marker titles. I wish I could tag markers with individual performers at least.
