Lately (not sure for how long), I’ve noticed that performers names get tagged twice. Let’s say there is a performer called “Jane Summer”, but there is also a performer just called “Jane”. When a scene with “Jane Summer” is getting tagged, it will tag both “Jane Summer” and “Jane”. There are some single-name performers with very common names getting tagged in a lot of scenes they are not in.
Is there a way to prevent this, other than turning off auto-tagging for everyone with single names?
No. This is the limitation of auto-tagging: false-positives on non-unique strings are unavoidable. The larger your metadata library grows, the more likely you are to overlook all the possible false-positives.
Even full names aren’t safe: Eg. Babe R will match Babe Ruth.
Auto-tag is a legacy tool before matching with hashes was a thing. Consider it a niche tool for niche applications.
And there’s no way to undo auto-tagged items. So be careful.
