The Latina Woman tag includes an alias of latina
, meaning that all scenes with studio tag latina
will be converted to Latina Woman
when the Edit is submitted to stashdb.org.
This is a problem as many studios will tag a scene with latina
when performers are trans-female of latin ethnicity.
The words latina
and latino
exist to distinguish feminine from masculine. Because studios use latina
for trans-female performers, and because StashDB has gender-specific tags:
Latina Woman
Latina Trans
Latino Man
as well as the gender-neutral tag Latin
, I think the alias of latina
should be removed from Latina Woman and a new feminine-general tag Latina
should be added, i.e.
Tag:Latina Woman
Description: Female performers with broadly Latin American ethnic backgrounds.
Category: Race
Aliases: Hispanic Woman, Latin American Woman, Latin Girls, Latin Woman, Latina Female
Tag:Latina
Description: Female or trans-female performers with broadly Latin American ethnic backgrounds.
Category: Race
Aliases: Latinas
Tag:Latino Man
Description: Male performers with broadly Latin American ethnic backgrounds.
Category: Race
Aliases: Hispanic Man, Latin American Man, Latin Man, Latino Male
Tag:Latino
Description: Male or trans-male performers with broadly Latin American ethnic backgrounds.
Category: Race
Aliases: Latinos
The Latin tag is already gender-neutral as it should be
The Latina Trans tag seems to only exists because there was a fuss about trans-female scenes being tagged as Latina Woman
(because StashDB converts studio tag latina
to Latina Woman
) and that made some people sad. I think this tag should be dropped and each scene currently with Latina Trans
should have that tag changed to just Latina
(the above proposed tag), which is what the studio tagged the scene as in the first place.
TL;DR: StashDB currently has an opinionated latina
→ Latina Woman
tag conversion that doesn’t agree with studio tagging, and the aliases and tags should be adjusted to make the StashDB tag handling be correct for every scene.
